Enhancing Wind Energy Performance with Advanced Nonwoven Solutions
The size of the wind turbines has increased significantly over the years, putting greater emphasis on minimising the weight of the structures whilst maintaining strength and maximising service time. Our lightweight nonwovens provide a number of solutions to help achieve this including, Surface finish, fracture toughness, fire protection and EMI shielding. As well as providing support to make the manufacture of wind turbine blades more straight forward.

Applications

Lightweight solutions for surface finish, blade toughening, shielding & fire protection

Surface finish

Our nonwovens are perfect as a surfacing veil for both blades and nacelles, providing a resin rich finish that suppresses micro cracks and minimises microporosity. This reduces the need for additional processing required.

Electrical conductivity

Our conductive nonwovens, with customisable electrical properties, are ideal for heating applications such as mould heating in wind turbine manufacture. This technology enables precise adaptation of electrical resistance levels, ensuring efficient curing of the composite blade structure.

Fire protection

Integral fire protection for nacelles, our Tecnofire® intumescent materials provide a means to both minimise fire spread and protect the nacelle from fire occurring elsewhere, for example, as a result of lightning strike to reduce restoration costs.
