Processing
Using OPTIVEIL®
Adhesive Carriers
Our OPTIVEIL® lightweight nonwovens are used extensively in the aerospace industry as a carrier for adhesive or surfacing films. The veils are temperature stable to aid processing and their highly porous structure and even fibre distribution ensures that wet out of adhesive is both rapid and uniform, enabling improved production rates.
The film thickness is determined by the veil thickness, which is exceptionally uniform, this ensures that the bond-line is both defined and highly consistent. Veil areal weights from as low as 2 g/m² ensure that both the thickness and weight of the film is minimised, while the nonwoven architecture improves the resilience and handling of the final product.
