Our lightweight nonwovens are used extensively in the automotive industry, providing proven established solutions for a high quality surface finish and corrosion protection. The latest application for our materials is in composite EV battery boxes where they provide solutions for both EMI shielding and fire protection - key challenges in the move from metal to lighter weight composites.

Applications

EMI Shielding in EV Battery Enclosures

Our conductive nonwovens facilitate the move from metal to composite battery enclosures, providing lightweight, tunable shielding from electromagnetic interference (EMI) and can form part of the composite structure without additional steps.

Class A Surface Finish

Our nonwovens provide a high quality, resin rich surface finish to a composite. Used extensively as surfacing veils, they minimise print through and potentially reduce the amount of further processing required.

Fire Protection

Fire protection for mufflers, battery enclosures, engines, catalytic converters and body interior panels. Our Tecnofire® materials have been used by NABI to provide fire protection for composite buses.

Brakes and transmissions

Abrasion resistant aramid provides an ideal substrate for friction parts, where it is used as a coating base for clutch, brake and automatic transmission systems.

Galvanic Corrosion Protection for Bodywork

Our dielectric nonwovens provide an extremely uniform, lightweight barrier to prevent the occurrence of galvanic corrosion in the vehicle chassis, battery and frame.
